SMS Notifications — Consent & Opt-In

Overview

Kathi Lipp LLC offers optional SMS notifications to members of its membership portal. SMS is never enabled by default — members must explicitly opt in by providing and verifying their phone number through a multi-step verification flow on their profile page.

How Members Opt In

The opt-in process requires deliberate action at every step. Members cannot receive SMS notifications without completing this entire flow:

1. Navigate to Profile Settings — Members sign in to the portal and go to their profile page.
2. Enter Phone Number — In the Account Information section, members enter their phone number in E.164 international format (e.g., +15551234567).
3. Review Consent Disclosure — Before clicking "Verify," the following consent text is displayed inline directly below the phone number input:

4. Click "Verify" — The member actively clicks the Verify button, which sends a one-time 6-digit verification code to the provided phone number via SMS.
5. Enter Verification Code — The member enters the 6-digit code they received. This confirms they have access to the phone number and have received the disclosure.
6. Verification Complete — Upon successful code entry, the phone number is marked as verified. A green "Verified" badge is shown. The member is now eligible to enable SMS notifications.
7. Enable SMS Notification Types — On the Notification Preferences page, verified members can toggle individual SMS notification categories on or off:
   • Event Reminders
   • @Mentions
   • Announcements

   All SMS toggles default to off. Members must individually enable each notification type they wish to receive.

Message Types & Frequency

Message and data rates may apply. Message frequency varies. Members control exactly which types they receive.

How to Opt Out

Members can stop SMS notifications at any time using any of these methods:

• Reply STOP — Text STOP to any message received from Kathi Lipp LLC. Opt-out is processed immediately.
• Disable in Portal — Turn off individual SMS toggles on the Notification Preferences page, or remove the phone number entirely from the Profile page.

After opting out via STOP, the portal displays a notice on both the Profile and Notification Preferences pages informing the member that SMS is paused and how to re-enable (by texting START).
